New Delhi: The nine-day Sharadiya Navratri festival concluded on Tuesday with special prayers dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri, the ninth manifestation of Goddess Durga, at the historic Jhandewalan Devi Temple in Delhi. Devotees gathered in large numbers from the morning to seek the goddess’s blessings, while devotional chants filled the temple परिसर with spiritual fervour.

The festival concluded amid elaborate decorations and a deeply devotional atmosphere, marking the culmination of nine days of worship dedicated to the nine forms of Maa Durga.

Religious Significance of Maa Siddhidatri

According to Hindu religious beliefs, Maa Siddhidatri, depicted seated on a lotus, blesses her devotees with spiritual accomplishments and divine powers. Religious scriptures also associate her blessings with Lord Shiva, who is believed to have attained siddhis through her grace.

Tradition holds that Goddess Siddhidatri granted Lord Shiva the feminine half of his body, leading to his manifestation as Ardhanarishvara, a divine form representing the union of masculine and feminine energies.

Devotees Pray for Peace and Prosperity

Worship on the ninth day of Navratri holds special significance for devotees seeking happiness, prosperity, peace and well-being for their families. Throughout the nine-day festival, the temple hosted prayers and worship dedicated to the different manifestations of Goddess Durga.

The temple management made arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of darshan and other religious activities as devotees continued to visit the shrine.

Durga Stuti Recitation Held at the Temple

According to information shared by the temple, a Durga Stuti recitation programme was organised by devotee Ashok Bhardwaj from noon until 3 pm. The devotional gathering formed part of the religious observances marking the final day of Navratri.

The celebrations concluded with devotees offering prayers to Maa Siddhidatri and seeking blessings for happiness, harmony and prosperity.
